Matthew McNeil is a Wilkes County native. He made the decision to follow Jesus when he was 17 and immediately recognized God’s call to ministry.
Matthew graduated from West Wilkes High School and later from Appalachian State University with a degree in Spanish Education.
In May 2008, He married his wife, Rachael, and the Lord quickly added two daughters and a son to their family: Kate, Cora, and Joel. Together they served the Lord in full time camp ministry from May 2008 to December 2017.
Ordained in January 2015, Matthew also served briefly as a pastor in two local churches before joining the ministry of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church as a Pastoral Assistant.
Matthew’s passion is God’s Word, teaching others to live it and equipping them to teach their families to do the same. Like the rest of the MPBC Staff, Matthew seeks to innovate as he ministers with the Word of God.
He hosts the Real Time Truth Podcast with Pastor D. Kevin Brown, presenting a weekly, biblical perspective on the day-to-day issues of life. He is the creator of Craft Me a Story, a YouTube series with the goal of teaching biblical truth to children through assorted art mediums.
Matthew also contributes heavily to the MPBC Daily Devotions, teaches regularly from the pulpit, and assists in many other ways around the church.
